Skullcandy Debuts Crusher 1080 ANC

New over-ear headphones pair Skullcandy's Crusher bass technology with Bose audio technologies

Skullcandy has introduced the Crusher 1080 ANC, a new flagship over-ear headphone that combines the company’s Crusher sensory bass technology with a suite of Sound by Bose audio technologies. Priced at $279.99, the Crusher 1080 ANC is available globally through Skullcandy’s website and retail partners.

“Skullcandy is known for pushing the boundaries of bass. For the uninitiated, the Crusher experience is akin to standing front row at your favorite concert. It’s the closest thing to reality,” said Skullcandy CEO Brian Garofalow. “In addition to giving fans the best-ever Crusher experience, we worked with Bose to be the first partner to integrate their noise cancellation, spatial audio, and other Sound by Bose technologies together. We set out to make the world’s greatest headphone by combining the two to deliver an incredible sonic experience for an unbelievable value.”

The new model marks the first collaboration between the two companies, pairing Skullcandy’s adjustable Crusher bass platform with Bose technologies, including QuietControl adaptive active noise cancellation, TrueSpatial audio with head tracking, WaveForm Audio Engine, and SpeechClarity for voice calls.

Crusher technology uses a dedicated dual-driver system designed to create a tactile bass response that listeners can physically feel in addition to hearing. Skullcandy said the new model features an updated driver design intended to improve clarity, detail, separation, and bass performance over previous Crusher headphones.

“For 60 years, Bose has been dedicated to research and engineering better listening experiences that change how people listen to music,” said Nick Smith, president of Bose Audio Technology and Chief Strategy Officer. “We’re excited to bring some of our most advanced audio technologies to Crusher 1080 ANC and hear them paired with Skullcandy’s unique sensory bass platform. This partnership is an exciting example of how Bose innovation can reach more listeners through distinctive new products and experiences.”

Users can adjust the level of Crusher bass using an onboard control wheel or through the Skullcandy mobile app. The app also provides access to equalizer settings, customizable button assignments, firmware updates, and controls for the Bose-powered audio features.

Additional features include Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio and Auracast support, multipoint pairing, Google Fast Pair Suite v3.3 compatibility, wear detection, low-latency audio, rapid charging, and battery life rated at up to 60 hours with ANC disabled or up to 50 hours with ANC enabled. The headphones fold flat for storage and include a roll-top travel bag.

Skullcandy introduced the Crusher 1080 ANC during a launch event in New York City on July 15, where the company showcased the new headphones for media, creators, and brand partners. The event featured appearances by Garofalow and professional skateboarder Nora Vasconcellos, along with live DJ performances.

“Crusher might actually be the best headphone ever. Stunning audio and a bass experience unlike anything else,” said Tony Hawk, professional skateboarder and Skullcandy brand ambassador.

“Skullcandy is known for having a community that pushes limits and never settles. Tony Hawk embodies that spirit. Crusher is their headphone,” said Justin Regan, vice president of marketing for Skullcandy.

The Crusher 1080 ANC is offered in four color options: Black, Candy, Primer, and Cement. Visit Skullcandy.com for more information.
