Buena Park, Calif. – Yamaha is expanding its portable Bluetooth speaker lineup with the $199-suggested NX-P100.
The NX-P100 is a splash-proof model that features nearfield communications (NFC) pairing and streams the AAC and AptX codecs.
It joins the $179 PDX-B11, which lacks NFC and AptX streaming.
The metal-body NX-P100, available later this month, has a rectangular shape in contrast with the PDX-B11’s spotlight-like housing. Other features include hands-free speakerphone capability, an internal rechargeable battery with eight hours of playback time, and a USB port for charging mobile devices. It will be available in black and white.
The existing model lacks speakerphone capability and uses six AA batteries.
