Verizon Prices Galaxy Note 3, Smart Watch

Basking Ridge, N.J. – Verizon Wireless joined T-Mobile and AT&T in announcing a price and availability date for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet.

The carrier also announced a price and availability date for Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

Verizon is taking Note 3 preorders on its web site for Oct. 10 shipping of the white and black versions at a price of $299 with two-year contract. A bundle consisting of the Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear Smart watch retails for $599 and also ships Oct. 10.

The smartwatch has been designed to work with the Note 3, and Samsung has said it would expand smart watch compatibility to other Galaxy phones.

Availability dates for the Note 3 and smart watch through Verizon stores and through indirect retailers wasn’t announced.

Verizon is also making the smartphone, but not the smart watch, available under its no-subsidy Edge installment plan for $29.16/month for 24 months for a total of $699. Under Edge, subscribers to Verizon’s Share Everything plans pay for unsubsidized smartphones in installments over 24 months. Users also get the option to upgrade a phone after six months if they paid off half of the cost of the device.

Last week, T-Mobile and AT&T also announced pricing and availability. T-Mobile announced nationwide Oct. 2 availability for a down payment of $199, plus 24 equal monthly device payments of $21, for a total of $703 with the carrier’s no-contract Simple Choice Plan. The Galaxy Gear will cost $299.

For its part, AT&T last week began to take pre-orders for the Note 3 for shipment around Oct. 1. The price is $35 per month for 20 months (for a total of $700) under AT&T’s Next trade-up program or $299 with a two-year contract.

AT&T hasn’t said when the Note 3 would be available in AT&T stores and in indirect channels. AT&T also said it would offer Galaxy Gear smart watch “in the coming weeks,” though it didn’t announce a price.

U.S. Cellular previously announced that plans to offer the Note III sometime in October but didn’t announce a price.

The 5.7-inch LTE-equipped phablet was launched at Berlin’s IFA show along with the 2014 edition of the Note 10.1 tablet.
