New York — AT&T joined T-Mobile in announcing price and availability of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet launched at IFA in Berlin.
Sprint, Verizon and U.S. Cellular also plan to offer the device but haven’t announced pricing or an availability date.
In a separate announcement, AT&T said it will offer an LTE-equipped version of the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 for the first time.
In outlining its Note 3 phablet plans, AT&T said that it began today to take pre-orders for the Note 3. Orders will begin shipping around Oct. 1. The price will be $35 per month for 20 months (for a total of $700) under AT&T’s Next trade-up program or $299 with a two-year contract.
An AT&T spokesperson declined to say when the Note 3 would be available in AT&T stores and in indirect channels.
AT&T also said it would offer Galaxy Gear smart watch “in the coming weeks,” though it didn’t announce a price.
Earlier today, T-Mobile announced nationwide Oct. 2 availability of the Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smart watch.
The 5.7-inch LTE-equipped phablet launched at Berlin’s IFA show along with the 2014 edition of the Note 10.1 tablet.
For its part, U.S. Cellular would say only that it would offer the 5.7-inch phone/tablet hybrid device in jet black sometime in October. U.S. Cellular declined requests to name a price. U.S. Cellular also declined to say whether it would offer the watch.
Separately, AT&T said it will offer an LTE-equipped version of the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 for the first time. The Tab 3 is priced at $199 with a two-year contract or $99.99 with two-year agreement if purchased with a Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S4 Active smartphone or Samsung Galaxy Note II phablet.
The tablet is available in AT&T-owned stores, authorized dealers and AT&T’s website, but not through national retailers, a spokesman said.
