Alviso, Calif. -
said Thursday that it is updating its iPhone and iPad apps to include additional integration with Facebook.
The company said the changes will increase TiVo's social TV functionality by enabling greater interaction and sharing, as well as expanding entertainment selections.
Using the social TV integrations, users will be able to see what programs their Facebook friends "Like" and view what shows their friends are currently viewing with the Watch feature, and immediately schedule a recording or watch live based on the recommendations, TiVo said.
Users will be able to interact live with their social graph to discuss shows, movies and online videos they are enjoying simultaneously, whether they are TiVo subscribers or not.
The company said the complete set of new features will launch on the TiVo app for iPhone and iPad later this year, bringing to iOS full TiVo functionality and real-time information on programs being viewed.
