Pixels For Penny Pinchers

Not every consumer is ready for a digital SLR and there was no shortage of entry-level marketers at PMA pitching products to the penny pinchers.

Cobra Digital, an entry-level camera marketer, announced availability for its hybrid DVC3500 digital still/video camera.

The unit records VGA/30fps MPEG- video and 3.1-megapixel still images. It features a 2-inch LTPS color display, 6x digital zoom, 16MB of internal memory with an SD card slot, PC-cam functionality and a macro mode. The $199 unit can also play MP3 music files.

The company also introduced two digital still cameras, the DMC300 and the DC5500, during the PMA Show here.

The sub-VGA DMC300 is an ultra-compact model which can double as a voice recorder. It features 6MB of internal memory with an SD card slot. It can double as a PC-cam and will retail for $39.

The 5-megapixel DC5500 is a fixed focal length model with a 4X digital zoom, 1.5-inch LCD, PC-cam functionality and AVI video recording with sound. It is available now for a suggested $99.95.

Sakar International introduced its Cyber Gear Sticker Wizard KidzCam which bundles Snapstickers software for creating photo stickers. The $29.99 camera includes three interchangeable camera face plates and can double as a PC-cam. It can store 152 images on internal memory.

VistaQuest is a newly launched company targeting the entry level with its own brand and the option to private label. The company’s product line includes the 5-megapixel VQ5020 featuring a fixed focal length lens, 2.5-inch LCD and 16MB of internal memory for a suggested $129.99.
