Smartwatch manufacturer Pebble has announced the Pebble Round 2, a revamped, redesigned version of 2015’s Pebble Time Round watch. New improvements over the initial model include a full-face e-paper display and improved battery life.
Pebble has removed the PTR’s bevel to expand the watch’s screen size to 1.3-inch color display, while the company claims a battery life of around two weeks. These improvements haven’t interfered with the original PTR’s selling point: having a thickness of only 8.1mm.
Pebble Round 2 features include:
- 1.3” color e-paper display (260 x 260 pixels at 283 DPI, twice as many pixels than PTR)
- 2 week battery life (estimated)
- 4 buttons
- Touchscreen (but you don’t have to use it!)
- Backlight
- Health tracking: steps and sleeps
- Water resistance (30m target)
- Linear resonance actuator (vibrating motor)
- Accelerometer and magnetometer
- Dual microphones for speech input (eg interacting with AI agents) and replying to messages (currently Android only, iOS in EU soon)
- Stainless steel frame
- Incredibly thin (just 8.1mm)
- Three color options: matte black (20mm band), brushed silver (available in 14mm or 20mm band), polished rose gold (14mm band)
- Includes silicone watch band and Pebble charge dongle
- Thousands of watchfaces and apps on Pebble Appstore
The Pebble Round 2 is available now for preorder for $199. Shipping is expected to begin in May.
