New York – Orb Audio upgraded its mini amplifier for computers, TVs and mobile devices.
The new Mini-T is smaller than its predecessor and priced lower, but it adds upgraded Class-T amplifier chips, subwoofer output, larger speaker-wire connectors and redesigned signal path that reduces noise to lower levels, the company said.
The $69 amp is priced more than 20 percent less than the price of the original Mini-T at its launch in 2011. It can be paired with the company’s compact speakers and subs, and it’s available in a $299 package with small orb-shaped speakers, the Orb Mod1.
The amp and companion speakers can also be used with Apple’s AirPort Express to stream music via Wi-Fi from iTunes-equipped PCs and Apple’s mobile devices.
The new Mini-T is rated at 2×15 watts with 0.04 percent THD, 102dB dynamic range and 88 percent efficiency.
The company is a direct-to-consumer seller of audio equipment.
