Netgear Intros New NAS Devices

New York – Netgear today introduced two network-attached
storage (NAS) produced designed to allow consumers to create their own private
Cloud.

The ReadyNAS Duo and ReadyNAS NV+ are two- and four-bay NAS
devices shipping on Nov. 13 for the consumer and SO/HO markets.

The Duo will carry a starting price of $199 for the SKU that
does not contain a hard drive; the 1TB version will be $269 and $299 for the
model that comes with 2TB of storage.

The NV+ is $399 with no drive, $499 with 2TB, and 4TB for
$599.

Both models differ only in the number of bays that are
included. The models powered by a Marvell 1.6GHz processor have a steel chassis,
256MB of memory, USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports and secure remote access.

This last feature is part of Netgear’s private Cloud
initiative: Consumers have direct access to the content stored on the NAS via a
remote-access app for mobile devices. They can also share the content directly
with others by emailing a URL that will give these people access to the public
folders on the NAS.
