Myxer Adds Cellphone Sales

Miami – Mobile
content download site Myxer has launched an online wireless store operated by
Simplexity.

Like other
private-label cellphone sites supported by Simplexity, Myxer’s

wireless store

, will sell popular
handsets and netbooks from such manufacturers as HTC, LG, BlackBerry, Motorola
and Samsung, and will offer plans from every major U.S. carrier.

Myxer boasts an
active community of more than 36 million users who’ve downloaded over 1.4 billion
ringtones, songs, wallpapers, videos, applications and games through the site since
its founding in 2005.

Simplexity also runs
private-label cellphone sites for RadioShack, Target, Sears, Kmart, Dell,
Nebraska Furniture Mart, and its own retail outlet, Wirefly. Until recently the
company also handled online cellphone sales, activations and fulfillment for
Best Buy, which was an early investor.

Visitors can shop the
stores by manufacturer, service provider, or rate plan, and can also upgrade
their phones, transfer service to new carriers, add new lines to an existing
family plan, and track their orders in real time.

Myxer CEO Myk
Willis said the new wireless store furthers its growth strategy of broadening
its consumer offerings. “By definition, all of our users are active mobile
consumers, and the Myxer team constantly shares information with our community
concerning accessories, devices, and upgrades, so this was a natural extension
to serve our users in a more comprehensive and cost-effective way.”
