A new study by ComScore and digital tech publisher Purch provides some insight into which consumer groups buy the most tech devices.
Here are the key takeaways:
• Gen-Xers buy more CE than any other age group (45 percent of tech purchases);
• millennials, however, spend the most, about 8 percent more than older shoppers;
• the most popular tech purchase: mobile phones (36 percent of total), followed by laptops (14 percent) and tablets (13 percent), with wearables and more specifically smart watches trailing at 4 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively; and
• 62 percent of online research is done before a purchase and 38 percent occurs afterward.
