London – Futuresource Consulting is rolling out a Worldwide Market Tracking service to track consumer electronics and appliance sellthrough on a weekly basis.
By the end of 2014, Futuresource expects the system to be live across multiple CE, appliance and media product categories worldwide, a spokesman said.
The company has been developing the service for more than four years and completed the first pilot in the U.K. The pilot focused on the digital camera market.
Digital-camera tracking is now rolling out across the U.S. and Europe and “can easily scale worldwide across all CE, home appliance and media categories,” the spokesman said. A digital-movie tracking is already in pilot phase, he noted.
The service includes overall category sales, sales by price point, and brand share.
“The levels of accuracy involved allow companies to integrate this data with their internal data sources so they can monitor promotional effectiveness,” said Tony Bicknell, director and co-founder of Futuresource Consulting. He said the “impact on supply-chain management will be significant.”
