Thiel Audio Gets New CEO

Thomas Malatesta, an entrepreneur and former Procter & Gamble executive, has been appointed CEO of Thiel Audio.

Before coming to the high-end speaker company in Nashville, Tenn., Malatesta also headed his own strategic marketing and sales support firm, which worked with European and Asian manufacturers to bring products to the U.S. market.

Thiel chairman David B. Griffin said Malatesta’s “ability to drive technology trends to market and his vision of adapting products to the way people use music” will reach “the next generation of Thiel consumers.”

Said Malatesta, “We want Thiel customers to experience ultimate performance products that are also in sync with their lifestyle.”

The company described the new CEO as a “senior marketing, operations and business development professional who has effectively managed all areas of business strategy, corporate development and business operations.” He has the “appropriate skill sets to significantly improve the operations of the company, from new product development to manufacturing and distribution,” the company said. “He and his team will build the company through partnerships, by entering niche markets and hitting by new demographics.”

The company’s previous CEO, John Wittman, was in the office from May 2014 to March 2015, Wittman’s LinkedIn biography states. He had replaced CEO Bill Thomas, who was part of the investment group that purchased Thiel in late 2012.
