Anthony Fonzo, at the Philips outpost, showcased the company’s well-regarded Ambilight immersive lighting technology with the exhibition of the recently launched new Ambilight TV series, now using intelligent LED lighting, which is built into the back of the TV to project colors onto the surrounding wall; the lighting can be synced to the on-screen action for a more immersive viewing experience. Ambilight technology, says Philips, has been tweaked to enhance game-playing TV activities via reactive lighting that syncs with the viewer’s gameplay. The sets come in 43-, 50-, 55-, and 65-inch models; other specifications include 4K UHD resolution with HDR10, and they are powered by the Roku TV streaming platform and Roku mobile app.

At the Skyworth Pepcom booth, Alex Ng explained the company’s latest innovations. Among those was the newly announced addition of a 75-inch model ($2,499) to the company’s Canvas Art TV lineup, expanding options for customers looking to showcase high-quality art aesthetics on screen. It joins 55- and 65-inch models as part of a series aimed at the custom integration market clientele. The set, of a flush-mount design that minimizes external connection boxes for cleaner installations, offers multi-function 4K QLED technology, via the Google TV platform, and a thin profile of just 1.18 inches, which lends itself to wall mounting. More than 400 pieces of complimentary artwork are included. The set also provides seamless integration with Control4 and Crestron systems. Skyworth also recently unveiled the Canvas Elite Art TV series in 86- and 100-inch screen sizes, carrying advanced OmniView Matte Screen technology, which is slated for use in large-format installations, and featuring 4K UHD QD-Mini LED with over 1,000 local dimming zones.

At the Aiper booth, the company’s Sara Osborne exhibited the Scuba X1 ProMax cordless robotic pool cleaner. An all-in-one, fully integrated cleaning solution, it handles tidying tasks for a pool’s surface, floor, walls, slopes, and waterline, and covers a maximum cleaning area of 3,230 square feet. The device uses 40 sensors and a quad-core processor, which work in tandem to scan the pool, via smart pool mapping, identifying areas beyond just floors and walls that include water surfaces, slopes and elevated platforms for a customized cleaning experience. Underwater water quality sensing and monitoring is also part of the package, with Aiper’s HydroComm Pro technology. It also features Auto Surface Parking, an automatic feature making for easy device retrieval.

Withings showed an exploded view of its U-Scan, which it describes as the first autonomous at-home urine analysis device. Characterized as a miniaturized urine analysis laboratory, U-Scan fits inside the toilet and collects samples using a thermal sensor, and then analyzes the sample using miniaturized biochemical sensors integrated into an interchangeable cartridge – with results processed directly on the device and transmitted by Wi-Fi to Withings’ app, which will track hydration, nutritional balance, calcium trends and other data. The data is then translated into actionable insights and personalized recommendations communicated to the user through Withings+. Each cartridge lasts an average of three months and can be easily swapped out for a new cartridge. U-Scan Nutrio, which tracks daily to weekly measurements of key urinary biomarkers such as Vitamin C and ketone levels, and U-Scan Calci, which tracks calcium levels and other parameters that could indicate kidney stone formation, are also being made available as part of U-Scan’s overall preventive health tracking, and Withings is making several subscription plan levels available.
