Musing on Life & Dreams, Horn Energizes WiCT Luncheon at CEDIA Expo

Next WiCT event to be held in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 8

On Friday afternoon, Women in Consumer Technology (WiCT) hosted its 11th Annual CEDIA Expo Luncheon at the Colorado Convention Center.

The luncheon, which had around 350 attendees, served as a vehicle for networking and also as a learning opportunity as keynote speaker Sam Horn shared tips from her new book Someday is Not a Day in the Week.

Carol Campbell, the group’s founder, kicked off the event, which she labeled as the “most important part of the day at CEDIA Expo,” honoring Bonnie Perella of Legrand AV as WiCT’s Volunteer of the Year. She then introduced Horn, who gave a motivational speech about the power of living a meaningful life.

For her new book, Horn interviewed thousands of people from all around the world and asked them questions like “On a scale of one to 10, how happy are you?” and “Are you leading a meaningful and purposeful life?” Horn discovered that people often didn’t pursue their dreams because they believed their responsibilities were holding them back.

“What if doing more of what put the light in our eyes is not mutually exclusive with being responsible?” Horn pondered. “What if we can take care of our work and our families and get crystal clear on what would give us something to look forward to?”

The next WiCT event, Your Voice Matters, will be held in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 8 in conjunction with the AVIXA Women’s Council and other groups.
