The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) has named LG Electronics’ Dr. Nandhu Nandhakumar the recipient of its 2018 CTA Technology Leadership Award.

The award, CTA’s highest Technology & Standards honor, recognizes individuals for their significant contributions to advancing the state of the art in consumer tech.

Nandhakumar, who serves as senior VP in LG’s office of the CTO, was cited for his long-term industry contributions as chairman of the CTA Technology Council. In that role, he helped identify “key thought leadership platforms for consideration” in the areas of autonomous and advanced driver-assistance systems, active aging, security, privacy and AI, CTA said.

At LG, Nandhakumar leads strategic technology projects in media and displays, robotics, and smart cities and communities, among other initiatives
