Intel Tops AMD With 800Mhz Processor

Intel has released Pentium III processors with speeds of 750Mhz and 800Mhz, wresting the lead from AMD, which introduced a 750Mhz chip earlier this month.

Intel reported that only limited quantities of the chips will initially be available and prices are $803, for the 750Mhz, and $851, for the $800Mhz, in 1000-unit batches. The processors will be available in volume in the first quarter. The processors will first appear in high-end business PCs and workstation-level computers.
