7/29/2010 01:35:13 PM Eastern
Taoyuan, Taiwan - Smartphone maker HTC
increased first-half net profit by 19.8 percent on a 41 percent sales gain,
but nonetheless shuffled top management to build "a stronger foundation for
future growth," the company said.

The management changes include the creation of
two new positions -- chief strategy officer and chief product officer -- both
filled by former SonyEricsson executives.

The company also promoted Jason Mackenzie,
previously VP of HTC North America, to the position of president of HTC North
America and Latin America.

In announcing first-half financials, the
company said revenues grew 41 percent to $3.07 billion, operating income grew
25 percent to $459 million, and net income grew 19.8 percent to $426.2
million, based on a currency conversion rate of $1 to 31.99 NT dollars

HTC was founded in 1997 and came to North America in 2005.
