LG Tops In ‘Most
Efficient’ Designation
WASHINGTON — Major appliance and
CE products from LG Electronics have
earned more “Energy Star Most Efficient
2011” designations than any other manufacturer,
the vendor reported. The new
Energy Star initiative by the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S.
Department of Energy (DOE) recognizes
the most energy-efficient products within
their categories which have already earned
the Energy Star label. The first two refrigerators
in the industry to meet the more
rigorous qualifications were LG models,
the company said, while five of its washers
and eight of its LED TVs have also received
the designation. The new label is
shared by only about 5 percent of Energy
Star-qualified products.
