JVC Mobile Ships Expansion-Ready Marine CD Receiver

LONG BEACH – March 12, 2015  – JVC Mobile, worldwide provider of quality audio systems and components, announced it is shipping its flagship marine CD receiver, which was introduced at the 2015 International CES. With the availability of the KD-R85MBS, retailers and consumers now have a complete array of choices when looking for great sound on the water or off-road: two receivers, multiple media connectivity options, system expansion capability, and both wired and wireless remote control.

Like the currently shipping KD-X31MBS, the KD-R85MBS (MSRP $129.99) is ready for the elements with a conformal-coated circuit board and rust-resistant components. It differs from the current model with the addition of a built-in CD player and three sets of RCA pre-amplified outputs to connect to add-on front, rear and subwoofer amplifiers. Each output is rated at 4.8 volts to provide a high-efficiency signal to the amplifier.

The KD-R85MBS accommodates a multitude of media selections, starting with CD and AM/FM radio. Built-in Bluetooth allows playback of music from compatible smartphones and tablets, in addition to safe, hands-free phone calls. For more entertainment, the KD-R85MBS is SiriusXM-Ready™ (SiriusXM SXV300 Connect Vehicle Tuner sold separately, subscription required), adding more than 200 channels of music, news and entertainment.

Users can also play their personal music and devices through the audio system. The KD-R85MBS features a multi-use, front panel USB port that works with iPhone, select Android-based phones, and USB-compatible storage media. iPod and iPhone users can control playback and music selection using either the radio or device controls, including thumbs up / down selection on streaming services Pandora and iHeartRadio. It also includes Siri Eyes Free to allow users to control iPhone apps and functions by voice.

Connecting a compatible Android phone enables the user to select and play music tracks as well. With JVC’s Smart Music Control App (available on Google Play), the Android phone or tablet can control the CD receiver via Bluetooth. In addition, the KD-R85MBS can easily switch between media sources, including multiple storage media on a connected USB hub or internal phone memory and attached microSD cards.

Users also have the option of two remote controls (sold separately). The new RM-RK62M (MSRP $79.99) wired controller can be installed in other areas of a boat to make music selections and adjust volume. The controller is IPX7-rated to withstand water damage, and up to six units connect to the KD-R85MBS for user convenience. Additionally, the RM-RK52M (MSRP $14.99) is a wireless remote control best suited for line-of-sight applications.

“We specifically worked to get this new receiver onto retailers’ shelves earlier than planned,” said Hazim Jainoor, manager of marketing and training for JVC Mobile. “Though the weather is bad in many parts of the country right now, we know boat owners and off-road enthusiasts are looking forward to getting outside, and we are pleased to have a solid product lineup ready for their entertainment needs.”
