Santa Monica, Calif. — Video & Audio Center cut the ribbon on its Westfield Century City Mall store, a former Sony location, with the former tenants’ Ultra HD TVs and other products on sale Thursday evening, May 22.
Sony Electronics’ CEO/president Mike Fasulo and other company executives were in attendance for the grand opening, which included surprise guest Gary Shapiro, president/CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association, as well as plenty of consumers ready to buy, according to Tom Campbell, corporate director of Video & Center.
At the one location during the event, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., the retailer sold 28 70-, 79- and 85-inch Sony 4K Ultra HD TVs, and sales of Sony’s Ultra HD camcorders were “substantial,” according to Campbell.
This location also sells Sony’s Xperia Z2 tablet and unlocked Z Ultra LTE smartphone, which is the first time Video & Audio has sold tablets and smartphones, he said.
