ProSource Building Out Lighting Business

The buying group added three new growth-category vendors.

ProSource has added three new vendors to its burgeoning lighting business: American Lighting, DMF Lighting and WAC Lighting.

The buying group for A/V retailers and custom integrators has been making a major push into the category, which it deems an important opportunity for members.

“The lighting and shading category represents one of the largest percent-growth categories for the group,” observed Andy Orozco, ProSource’s business development VP.

Building on an initial set of core lighting vendors curated last year, along with the creation of a Lighting and Shading Committee, the new additions are “providing as many resources as possible to ensure our members’ success,” Orozco said.

According to ProSource, American brings to the group a wide range of lighting solutions for residential, commercial, and specialty lighting needs; DMF designs and builds LED downlighting that sets the bar for flexibility, performance, and quality; and WAC is a global company that designs, engineers, and manufactures innovative track, recessed, under cabinet, monorail, step and wall lights, and decorative lighting solutions.

In addition to assessing and green-lighting vendor partners, the Lighting and Shading Committee assists in developing educational opportunities in the category, offering training and certification through the American Lighting Association. To further promulgate that business, David Warfel, an educator, author, and lighting designer practicing in architecture and experience design, will present at the upcoming ProSource Summit in Nashville, and ProSource district managers Nicole Riddle and Samantha Summerfield will lend their expertise assisting members in the field.
