Farmingdale, N.Y. — Majap and CE powerhouse P.C. Richard & Son has formally entered the bedding business with the opening of mattress departments in 14 of its 66 stores.
The in-store shops, located throughout Connecticut and New Jersery, feature the Sealy, Stearns & Foster and Tempur-Pedic brands. Current promotions include free delivery, set-up and removal for select SKUs; zero-percent financing for up to 60 months; and a free 32-inch Samsung LED TV (model UN32EH4003) with the purchase of any Tempur-Pedic mattress.
The company said it will soon open more bedding departments in New York and additional New Jersey stores.
With its move into mattresses, P.C. Richard follows other regional and independent electronics and appliances chains, most notably hhgregg and Conn’s, who are offsetting waning CE margins with bottom-line support from the more profitable bedding and home furnishings businesses.
P.C. Richard is a 104-year-old family-held CE, majap, IT and now bedding chain, based here, with stores in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. It ranks eighth nationwide in appliance sales and 25th in CE sales according to TWICE’s annual Top 100 retailer reports.
