Summit CE Plans Car & Driver Dash Cams At CES

Summit CE Group, the exclusive licensee of the Coby brand, will add the Car & Driver brand to its portfolio at CES with the launch of 20 dash cams priced from $39-$299.

The dash cams will be available in the spring at consumer electronic stores, auto care stores, wholesale clubs, and online retailers, the company said.

Also at CES, Summit will show its first line of Coby-brand tablets and unlocked smartphones.

Features of various dash-cam models include GPS, 1080p recording, loop recording, accident/motion detection, parking mode, night vision, lane-departure warning, speed alerts, Wi-Fi, 3G, and Android-powered touch screens. Hardwired installation is not required.

Dash-cam footage “can quickly and decisively settle disputes” and are widely used by police departments and Uber drivers, Summit CE said.

Details on the tablets and phones were unavailable.

The products will be at booth 14617.

Summit CE, launched in 2014 by an investor group, is led by president Steven Shamula, a former Sakar International employee. The company’s first products appeared at CES 2015 and included headphones, Bluetooth speakers, PC speakers, other audio products, and accessories such as universal remotes.

Car and Driver is published by Hearst Magazines.
