Las Vegas — Samsung will unveil at International CES next week its Ativ Book 9 thin-form factor laptop and the Ativ One 7 Curve curved-screen all-in-one (AiO) PC.
The all-aluminum Samsung Ativ Book 9 is billed as offering mobile computing for today’s always-on consumer. It features WQXGA (2,560 by 1,600) display and integrated Digital Natural Image Engine (mDNIe) technology to enhance and sharpen text, images and video content.
The Book 9 was built to deliver the same viewing experience as a larger laptop in a smaller form factor.
Features include a 12.2-inch screen and 16:10 aspect ratio; a low-reflection coating with 350 nits of brightness; and one-touch (Fn9), outdoor control mode to enhance sunlight-readability.
The Book 9 measures 0.46 inches thick and weighs 2.06 pounds. It is 24 percent smaller than the 13.3-inch Ativ Book 9 Plus yet packs more power and charge.
The unit includes an Intel Broadwell Core M processor designed for super-slim, ultra-portable devices and a battery life of 10.5 hours with one-hour Extreme Power Saving mode.
The Ativ Book 9 also includes improved connectivity and mobile capabilities. With the addition of Wi-Fi Amp, the Internet connection is 20 percent faster, has a strong wireless Access Point for searching and connection, and allows for auto tethering through a smartphone. The result is immediate and always-on Internet access, the company said. Together with proprietary Samsung solutions that enable seamless sharing between devices (SideSync 3.0 and SamsungLink 2.0), files can be easily shared and calls can be made and received from the laptop without a mobile device.
Samsung’s Ativ One 7 Curve is an AiO PC offering an immersive curved-screen experience for desktop PC users. The screen measures 27 inches and features FullHD LCD resolution.
Onboard sound is enhanced with Dolby Sound Effects and lossless audio transmission. It is powered with an Intel Core i5 processor and includes 8GB of RAM memory.
