Samsung Claims Record $1 Billion In TV Sales

Samsung Electronics sold more than $1 billion worth of TVs in October in North America, setting a new monthly sales record, the company said.

The company cited, in part, the expansion of “interactive experience marketing,” including the expansion of Samsung Entertainment Experience areas to about 600 Best Buy stores. The Samsung-dedicated area let consumers explore Samsung products, including SUHD 4K TVs and audio systems, in a hands-on way, Samsung said.

The company also cited customer satisfaction, noting that it won two customer satisfaction awards in the annual J.D. Power 2015 HDTV Satisfaction Report. J.D. Power’s survey of 3,750 consumers who purchased an HDTV in the previous 12 months found that Samsung was the highest-ranking company for customer satisfaction for two consecutive years in the 50-inch-and-up category and in the category of less than 50 inches, Samsung said.

The $1 billion sales level compares with September 2004, when the company posted $100 million in monthly sales for the first time, and October 2007, when sales hit $500 million. In 4K UHD TVs, Samsung said it accounted for more than half of all sales in the third quarter of 2015, or 52.1 percent of sales in the U.S. and 54.4 percent in Canada.
