Rockford Buys Crimestopper

Tempe, Ariz. — Rockford Corp. is adding to its stable of 12-volt brands again, this time with its first car security/remote-starter company, Crimestopper Security Products.

Crimestopper, founded 33 years ago as one of the original car-security companies, also offers vehicle-safety products.

“Many areas of Crimestopper’s business are growing rapidly, and since virtually all of our customers are involved with this category, adding Crimestopper to our family makes perfect sense for Rockford,” said Rockford president/CEO Bill Jackson. “A further complement to the alignment is that Crimestopper’s product categories are counter-seasonal to our current lineup of audio products, thus allowing us to focus on each independently.”

Crimestopper president Howard Miller will join Rockford as part of the acquisition.

Miller’s company has expanded beyond vehicle-security and remote-start systems to offer GPS tracking systems and a variety of vehicle-safety products, such as cameras, monitors, wireless video systems, collision-avoidance and parking-sensor systems, vehicle DVRs and tire-pressure monitoring systems.

Rockford sells products under the Rockford Fosgate, Rockford Acoustic Design, Lightning Audio, Blaupunkt, Brax, Helix and Renegade brands.
