Philips Chromecast 4K TVs Now Available

Funai Electric subsidiary P&F USA said its new series of Chromecast-enabled Philips-branded 4K TVs have begun shipping

The 5000-series TVs, which first debuted at CES in January, come with built-in Chromecast, enabling users to “cast” content from a compatible mobile device or laptop. More than 1,000 apps are available for casting, and consumers can control the content on the TV via mobile device or voice. A feature that will display information on the TV in response to certain voice commands will be functional in early 2018, said P&F.

The TVs also work with Google Home powered by the Google Assistant.

Other details include high dynamic range (HDR), 120Hz frame rate, 4K up-scaling, and 802.11ac wireless LAN with MIMO antennas, while Sonic Emotion Premium and Absolute 3D sound technologies are designed to provide immersive 3D sound with a precise soundstage and clear dialog.

The TVs come with HDMI 2.0a with HDCP2.2 on all HDMI ports, as well as built-in HEVC and VP9 decoders.

Four screen sizes are available: 43, 50, 55 and 65 inches, carrying respective retail steps of  $529, $599, $699 and $1,199.
