LG Bringing OLED To More 4K TVs

Feature Open HDR, Dolby Vision, UHD Certification

More LG 4K Ultra HD OLED TVs hit store shelves with the shipment of four models that join three models shipped earlier this year.

One more 4K OLED TV is also planned for the second half.

All are certified by the UHD Alliance as meeting Ultra HD Premium performance minimums for wide color gamut, high dynamic range and other attributes. Both also feature the Open HDR and Dolby Vision high dynamic range (HDR) technologies.

Sony, Samsung, Sharp and Hisense offer Open HDR 4K TVs, and Vizio offers Dolby Vision TVs that are getting firmware upgrades to add Open HDR.

Retailers carrying LG’s OLED TVs include Best Buy, Amazon and regional retailers.

The company’s latest 4K OLED TVs consist of two flat and two curved models. The flat models are the $3,999 55-inch OLED55B6P and the $5,999 65-inch OLED65B6P. The curved models are the $3,999 55-inch OLED55C6P and $5,999 65-inch OLED65C6P.

They join the flat $4,999 55-inch OLED55E6P and $6,999 65-inch OLED65E6P in the E6P series and the $7,999 65-inch OLED65G6P in the Signature series. A 77-inch Signature series TV, the OLED77G6P, is due in the second half at an unannounced price.

The Signature TVs are part of a Signature line of ultra-premium home entertainment and appliance products. Both Signature TVs feature a translucent glass back, chassis that is mostly 2.57mm deep, and integrated stand incorporating all electronics and an 80-watt soundbar speaker system.

All of the OLED TVs were unveiled at CES 2016 as part of a launch that introduced a new upper tier of 4K LCD TVs called Super UHD TVs, expanded the selection of Ultra HD 4K OLED TVs to eight from four, and brought the HDR 10 and Dolby Vision HDR technologies to all of the company’s new 4K OLED and 4K SUHD LCD TVs.

The company previously announced the pricing and availability of its Super UHD series, which also features Open HDR and Dolby Vision. LG has also shipped its 2016 UHD series.
