Stillwater, Okla. – A first-of-its-kind DSP/power amp from Kicker can be integrated into the factory CAN Bus of a Jeep Wrangler JK Sahara to maintain all factory audio features while improving OEM sound quality, the company said.
The eight-channel, 400-watt CAN-Bus amplifier is a direct plug-and-play replacement for the factory amplifier.
The amplifier is part of Kicker’s $1,249-suggested Vehicle-Specific Solutions (VSS) PowerStage OEM-upgrade package, which integrates with the premium Infinity factory audio system in 2007-to-2014 Wranglers, including the two- and four-door versions with hard- and soft-top versions. The package includes a 10-inch Kicker subwoofer in a molded enclosure and powered by an internal 200-watt mono amp.
The package, which can be installed by dealers or do-it-yourselfers, is available at www.kicker.com and is shipping to authorized dealers.
The amp improves the staging, imaging and overall sound of the factory system. Its DSP engine auto-reconfigures the system’s equalization depending upon whether the hard top is on or removed. The DSP compensates for open-air listening encumbered by wind and road noise. The amplifier also reconfigures to deliver surround sound when a DVD is played back.
When the Wrangler requires servicing, the amplifier does what the factory amp does: delivers full diagnostic reporting options to an automotive technician, the company said.
