Sunrise, Fla. — IK Multimedia introduced the iRig Voice microphone on Thursday, a device designed to work with a free EZ Voice app to record or sing along with any song on a user’s iOS or Android mobile device’s music library.
iRig Voice utilizes a compact cardioid pattern for close voice pickup, said to minimize feedback when used with speaker systems. It has an on/off slide switch for muting unwanted sound and an oversized strain-relief cable meant for high-energy performances. The company said its ergonomic construction is comfortable yet still fits into most standard microphone stand clips.
Specifically designed for voice recording, the iRig Voice can work with such apps as Smule’s Sing Karaoke and AutoRap. It operates through a 3.5mm TRRS analog microphone/headphone jack on all devices and provides a built-in headphone through input. The accompanying EZ Voice app can import songs from a device’s music library; cancel original vocals; and add effects like reverb, chorus and pitch correction. Once songs are recorded, the app can also share them via email or SoundCloud.
The iRig Voice is currently available in green, blue, yellow, pink and white for a $39.99 suggested retail.
