Haier America’s new Serenity room air platform has been lauded by the folks at This Old House magazine.
Specifically, the super-silent AC series edged out thousands of recent introductions to make the pub’s fifth annual Top 100 list of best new home products of the year.
The Serenity line, available in 6,050 and 8,000 BTU models, is 9db quieter on average than other window ACs, and is softer on the ears than the next-quietest competitor by at least 3db — a 40 percent difference, Haier said.
The company managed to suppress the units’ sound by reconfiguring internal mechanisms, redistributing air flow, improving their structural design and strategically locating sound insulators.
“Haier is incredibly honored to be named to the This Old House Top 100,” said Haier marketing director James Liess. “The recognition really drives home the fact that we’ve built a brand that consumers can count on to elevate their homes through design innovation.”
