GoPro announced a pilot program for its newest action cam, the Fusion.
Few details for the spherical camera were given, other than that it can record 5.2K resolution and is designed for capturing immersive VR content. Users can also capture and record traditional video and images.
The Fusion will be compatible with the company’s mounts and accessories, GoPro said.
Content creators can apply for participation in the pilot program, expected to begin this summer. A limited commercial release is slated for the end of the year. Pricing wasn’t given.
This is not GoPro’s first foray into VR capture. Its Omni camera, which fuses six cameras together, shipped last August.
