The Omni hybrid smart cycling helmet employs openear bone-conduction technology on the straps, providing music, communication and data in a safe manner by sending small vibrations directly to the inner ear and bypassing the ear canal and eardrum. This enables the rider to remain aware of ambient noise like cars and other cyclists. Other features include a wind-resistant microphone near the forehead for two-way communications, 18 airflow vents, a detachable visor and LED safety illumination. A handlebar-clipped remote is included that lets cyclists control media and calls without needing to take their hands off the bars. It will launch via a crowdfunding campaign next month but will ship regardless of the campaign’s success. Suggested retail will be $199.
