Como Audio is growing its line of home audio solutions with the addition of a portable speaker and a multi-room CD player, both Wi-Fi enabled.
The Musica multi-room player features both Wi-Fi streaming and a slot-loading CD player, and it can stream CD content to other Como Audio devices. All music content is accessible with the press of a button, said Como, including Internet radio, Spotify Connect, Tidal, Napster and Deezer. Amazon Music is slated to be available in October.
In addition to a clock radio and 3.2-inch color display, the device also features FM RDS, NFC, Bluetooth with AptX, AAC, and adjustable EQ. Eight presets can be stored, and it can play music from a flash drive.
Speaker details for the Musica include two 3-inch, four-layer voice coil woofers; two 0.75-inch dome tweeters; digital signal processor; and 30-watt per channel Class D stereo digital amplifier. It has USB, headphone, two aux, optical and Ethernet inputs, and is also controllable by a free iOS and Android app.
The system comes in hickory, walnut, Piano Black or Piano White finishes with anodized or painted metal knobs and control panel. Suggested retail will be $599 (walnut) and $649 (others) when it becomes available in October.
The Amico, meanwhile, is Como’s first portable speaker. The battery-powered Bluetooth and Wi-Fi device weighs 3.6 pounds and measures 9.4 inches by 5 inches by 4.9 inches. It can play music via Internet radio, Spotify Connect, FM RDS, or Bluetooth with AptX. It also has AAC, as well as NFC pairing.
Design details include a teak wood veneer with nearly 0.5-inch-thick plywood substrate and anodized metal knobs for weather resistance. The front panel has a 2.8-inch color display, six independent pre-sets, adjustable EQ and a digital alarm clock. Like the Musica, it can play music from flash storage.
As for speaker specs, the Amico is equipped with one 3-inch, four-layer voice coil woofer, 0.75-inch dome tweeter, digital signal processor, and 30-watt per channel RMS Class D digital amplifier. The tuned rear bass port is meant to double as a carry handle.
The rechargeable lithium-ion battery is rated to last up to eight hours. The speaker also comes with a remote control.
Suggested retail will be $399 when it ships in October. It will initially be available direct from the company and through Amazon. Como is also using Kickstarter to market the products.
