Santa Clara, Calif. – Magellan priced its Cloud-connected SmartGPS at a suggested $249 and began offering it nationwide through Best Buy and BestBuy.com.
The on-dash SmartGPS connects to the Cloud via a Bluetooth-connected smartphone to receive pushed location-based content, including Yelp and Foursquare reviews and offers from nearby businesses. It is promoted as the industry’s first car GPS unit to integrate pushed location-based updates from social-media apps. It was unveiled at January’s International CES.
