Fremont, Calif. – Asus is expanding its ChromeBook line to four SKUs with the launch of its first convertible ChromeBook, whose keyboard flips 360 degrees to turn it into a touchscreen tablet.

The ChromeBook Flip C100 with 10.1-inch multitouch display retails for a suggested $249 with 2GB RAM and $299 with 4GB at the Asus web store, Newegg.com and Amazon.com.

Out of a small number of convertible ChromeBooks available, Asus’s is the first 10.1-inch model. Lenovo also offers a convertible ChromeBook, the 11-inch Yoga 11e, launched in the third quarter of last year.

The device features a metal chassis to deliver a build and material quality of much more expensive notebooks, the company said.

The 1.96-pounds, 0.6-inch-thick ChromeBook features Rockchip 3288-C  quad-core 1.8GHz processor,  97-percent full-size keyboard, battery life is up to nine hours, 16GB flash memory, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.1, stereo speakers, microphone HD camera, two USB 2.0 ports, one micro HDMI and one SD/SDXC card reader.

It measures 10.35 by 7.18 by 0.03 inches.
