Apple and Samsung have finally closed the books on a series of iPhone and iOS patent infringement suits that spanned seven years and cost both companies hundreds of millions of dollars in legal fees.
While Apple had been gunning for what it perceived to be all major Android copycats and interlopers, the vitriol was especially high between it and Samsung, one of whose lawyers once called Apple a “jihadist.”

But that’s all behind them now, as they told a U.S. District Court judge in California this week in reaching an undisclosed settlement.
Besides, Apple already won hundreds of millions from Samsung in prior decisions, and now has bigger fish to fry with its multibillion-dollar battle over patent royalties with Qualcomm.
