1More 1st With THX Badge

THX has launched a performance-certification program for headphones, and 1More is the first company to receive official designation.

THX said it established its headphone certification program in order to “define a reference headphone listening experience.” Testing is done on the device’s frequency response, output and distortion levels, and crosstalk between channels.

1More’s Triple Driver and Quad Driver in-ear headphones both received certification. They feature balanced-armature designs and a 20Hz to 40kHz frequency response, and carry suggested retails of $99.99 and $199, respectively. The Triple Driver model is also Hi-Res Audio certified. The company said it will display the THX Certified logo on the product packaging.

THX was acquired by gaming manufacturer Razer last year, although it operates as an independent entity. In addition to its flagship cinema certification program, THX also offers a full suite of programs for A/V equipment, automotive audio and live concerts, with plans to further expand. The company was founded by filmmaker George Lucas in 1983 and later spun off.
