Vizio Unveils ’09 TV Lines

Irvine, Calif. — Vizio released details on its full 2009 television line, including new XVT-series models, flagship models employing Vizio’s TruLED/240Hz technology and Thin Line 120Hz models.

Other line highlights include a Java designer collection within the newly added M series of 1080p/120Hz

HDTVs, and an energy-efficient E series with an EcoTV model offering power-consumption levels that are 20 percent under Energy Star 3.0 guidelines, Vizio said.

In all, the line includes 31 new LCD TV models in three product groups. All are said to conform to Energy Star 3.0 power-consumption guidelines.

At the top of the class are six Vizio XVT-series models with USB video inputs and Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratios of up to 2,000,000:1. The series is highlighted by the 55-inch VF551XVT model (shipping in September at a $2,200 suggested retail) with TruLED LED backlighting and what the company calls “Smart Dimming technology” to control LED light output for enhanced color saturation, contrast and black-level performance.

Other models in the series include a pair of Thin Line models with FullHD 1080p/120Hz resolution in the 32- inch SV320XVT ($750) and the 37-inch SV370XVT ($850), both of which ship in September.

The line also includes the 42-inch SV420XVT ($1,200) and SV470XVT ($1,500), both of which feature 1080p/240Hz scenes per second (SPS) resolution using Smooth Motion technology, and are slated to ship in July.

All models also have SRS TruSurround HD audio technology, which enhances clarity and produces surround sound without external speakers, and TruVolume, which stabilizes volume fluctuations at commercials or when switching between

channels.
Vizio also unveiled its new 17-model M-series lineup in screen sizes ranging from 22 inches to 55 inches, all with FullHD 1080p resolution. The assortment also includes special designer models with distinctive color treatments earning the company’s “Java” moniker. Models in the VL class feature a brushed-Java-color treatment, while the VT class offers a Java-bezel treatment that resembles wood picture frames.

Designer models in the series include the 26-inch VL260M (June $480), 32-inch VL320M (June $650), 37-inch VL370M (July, $800), 42-inch VL420M (July, $900) and 47-inch VL470M (July, $1,300).

Select models feature a 120Hz refresh rate with Smooth Motion technology, as well as Vizio’s USB Multi-Media Feature that can display MPEG-2, H.264 and WMV9 video, JPEG photos, and MP3 music from a thumb drive or FAT32 hard drive.

Many M Series models have Vizio’s new Pause Live TV feature that allows viewers to pause their programs without the need for a separate cable or satellite box, and Vizio’s Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratio of up to 50,000:1.
The eight-model E series offers screen sizes ranging from 19 to 42 inches, and is designed to address the high-value small- to midsized TV market. Models feature white or black piano-colored bezels, with many offering SRS Labs’ TruSurround technology.

The 42-inch VO420E (shipping now at $850), offers full 1080p resolution.

The 32-inch VECO320L (shipping now at $500) features Vizio’s EcoHD technology, which lowers energy consumption as much as 20 percent below Energy Star 3.0 standards.
