Sony To Have High Profile During CES

LAS VEGAS –Sony Electronics is set to take on a high profile during International CES, starting with Kazuo Hirai, president and CEO of Sony Corporation, delivering this morning’s keynote at the Venetian, here.

While the contents of Hirai’s speech, to take place at 8:30 a.m. local time, were under wraps at press time, it was expected that Sony’s top executive will make 4K TV – from new consumer displays and camcorders, to Hollywood production equipment and probably content – an important part of his address.

Sony did share with TWICE prior to our deadline details about its car electronics introductions and details about its new strategy for interchangeable-lens cameras, bringing DSLR and mirrorless NEX lines under one Alpha brand.

CES will also be the coming-out party for longtime Sony executive Mike Fasulo, who was named president of Sony Electronics in December. He replaced Phil Molyneux, who was president/CEO, and became a non-executive chairman of Sony Electronics in the U.S.
