SanDisk Reports Q1 Profit

Milpitas, Calif. — SanDisk reported a net income of $18 million for its first quarter ending March 30.

Total revenue for the quarter grew 8 percent year-over-year to $850 million. The company pulled in $724 million through product sales and $126 million through licenses and royalties.

The company cited strong international sales, its Sansa MP3 line and flash-memory sales to mobile and GPS markets as contributing to its profits.

SanDisk saw price-per-megabyte declines of more than 60 percent on a year-over-year basis while the average capacity of its retail flash cards was 2.06GB.
