Samsung NX Cameras Get Firmware Upgrades

Ridgefield Park, N.J. -

said Tuesday that it has released a firmware "upgrade" for its NX10 and NX100 mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras.

Samsung said the upgrade will give a unified user experience for the full NX range while enhancing certain features in some models.

A key enhancement will be in using new i-Function lenses with each model. The upgrade will make the cameras more convenient to use with the new lens capability.

In addition both models will add Panorama Shot in Scene Mode, using the camera's wide angle lens to capture more within landscape images.

The 50-200mm II lens will now get Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), when used with the cameras. The feature can be selected using the menu system on the camera's screen.

The firmware upgrade also adds improved Movie Auto-Focus, providing the latest algorithms from camcorder technology to improve steadiness of video recording when moving from subject to subject.

Also added is enhanced Contrast Auto-Focus, for clearer low contrast shots in low light conditions. The firmware upgrade also makes these functions faster and quieter.

In addition, through the upgraded firmware, the NX100 and NX10 now provide the i-Function setting help guide via the camera's display, as available on the recent NX11 model. The feature helps users take impressive shots more easily by guiding users with explanations on different functions of the i-Function lens.

The upgrades are available now for all NX100 and NX10 customers to download at

"We continually look for ways to improve the photography experience, to make it more fun and add value for our customers. The latest upgrade is reflective of this," said Hyunho Chung, Samsung digital imaging business executive VP. "Users of the NX system already benefit from key features such as compact portability of the devices, and innovations like the i-Function lens.
