Newmarket, N.H. – Russound is offering iPhone/iPod Touch control of its RNET multiroom-audio systems for the first time with the launch of the $599 Touchpoint control system.

The TCH1 Touchpoint, due in June, links a home network to a Russound system to serve up a Russound Web page accessible from the Safari browser of a Wi-Fi-equipped iPhone or Touch. Users save the IP address of the Touchpoint as a bookmark on the iPhone or iPod Touch home screen. From the Apple devices, users control the functions for any zone or source component in a Russound RNET multiroom audio system. Controllable functions include zone selection, source selection through direct-entry and scrolling functions, transport controls for source components, volume, muting, bass, treble, loudness and balance control. System feedback includes Wi-Fi signal strength and metadata from Russound RNET Smart Sources.

The Touchpoint hardware can be connected to a home’s wireless access point or router through either through wireless 802.11a/b/g or a hardwired CAT-5 connection. In turn, the Touchpoint connects to the multiroom system’s controller via DB9.
