Metra Readies Car-Install Products For CES

Holly Hill, Fla. – Metra Electronics
will go to CES with car stereo install kits that retain the factory dash
controls of the Dodge Charger and Ford Focus when aftermarket head units are
installed.

The company will also launch multiple
new backup cameras and parking-assist kits as well as re-launch its Ballistic line up of sound-dampening products.

For the 2012 Dodge Charger, a new install
kit comes with an included interface to retain use of the factory touchscreen,
an antenna adapter, and included backlit rubber buttons to control the
vehicle’s climate-control system.

The 2012 Ford Focus dash kit, designed
for use with DIN and double-DIN head units, features backlit rubber buttons to
retain the use of the car’s hazard button, lock/unlock button, and controls in
the driver’s information center. It also comes with multiple color choices for
vent trim panels as well as a scratch-resistant matte-black center panel to
match the factory finish. The kits ship in the spring.

In its new line of Third Eye back-up
cameras and sensors, cameras include a small license-plate-mountable camera,
small bullet camera, small square camera, and through-hole camera. They feature
IR LEDs for night vision, 170-degree viewing angle, defeatable parking assist
lines, and waterproof connections. The camera lineup also includes a 2.4GHz
wireless transmitter and receiver as well as a 3.5-inch color video screen.

Parking sensor kits include a front-and-rear
kit with adjustable sensitivity to detect up to 2.5 feet in front and 5 feet in
the rear. A rear parking kit is also available.

In sound-dampening products that reduce road
noise and improve the quality of audio playback, the company is launching three
series in the Ballistic line, each with different performance levels and price
points. They are the Performance Grade Ballistic Hollow Point Series,
Competition Grade Ballistic Series and the Reference Grade Ballistic Magnum
Series. They ship in early February.
