Indianapolis — The Mobile Electronics Retailers Association (MERA) announced the loss of its executive director Jim Montoya, 64, who passed away in his home on Nov. 21.
Montoya joined MERA earlier this year, after longtime director Rick Mathies left the car stereo retailer group to join Brand Source’s new 12-volt arm.
MERA said even though Jim was with MERA a only short time, “his enthusiasm, professionalism, innovative spirit and gentle humor will be missed by everyone who knew him. He was committed to the future of the automotive electronics specialist and to MERA’s membership.”
Funeral services will be held in West Virginia on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Elizabeth United Methodist Church.
Prior to joining MERA, Montoya ran his own trade association group, Montoya Management, for 18 years. The group merged three years ago with The Raybourn Group, which manages MERA and also managed CEDIA for many years.
