Jawbone Revisits Bluetooth Era

San Francisco — Jawbone has updated its Era Bluetooth headset so that it’s 42 percent smaller than the original model.

Jawbone said it reengineered the ear bud and audio porting system to route sound directly into the user’s ear. The Era no longer requires an ear loop and comes with three sizes of tips.

Jawbone is also using MEMS microphones for the first time in one of its headsets.

Other features include digital signal processing (DSP), the company’s NoiseAssassin 4.0 sound technology for reducing background noise, 10 hours of talk time, a charging case with LED indicators,

Pressing and holding the button on the back of the Era activates Siri or Google Now.

The Era, available in four colors, is currently shipping for a $129 suggested retail. It also comes without the charging case for $99.99.
