IOGear Bows Printer/Storage Server

Irvine, Calif. — IOGear has introduced a two-port USB 2.0 multifunction print and storage server, model GMFPSU22W6. According to the company, the product makes it possible for small and home offices to share multifunction printers and other USB 2.0 devices, such as external hard drives, flash drives and memory card readers.

The palm-sized device plugs into a network via an Ethernet connection and gives any networked computer access to all connected devices. It comes with a USB 2.0 hub extension that allows up to five peripherals to be connected to the network.

The server is said to allow all users to monitor their printer’s status and ink level through a Web-based console so that they can configure, monitor and reset the printer both onsite and remotely. According to IOGear, the product also automatically identifies many printers’ makes and model upon connection.

IOGear noted that while the server is designed to support the

USB 2.0 specification

, it is also backward compatible with USB 1.1. It is available immediately for a suggested retail of $169; IOGear’s standard three-year warranty is included.
