Haier Hires Cain, Gets Good H’Keeping Kudos

NEW YORK – Haier America has tapped industry veteran Rian Cain to run its major appliance business.

Cain joins Haier from American TV & Appliances, where he was sales and marketing VP. Prior to that he held the same title at Sharp Electronics, where he headed the manufacturer’s home appliance division. He began his career at Maytag, where he rose through the sales and marketing ranks over the course of his 22 years with the vendor.

In his new role at Haier, Cain leads all product marketing, sales and branding initiatives for the company’s major appliance and home comfort products and reports to Haier America COO Ma Chunyu.

In other news, Haier’s 20.6-cubic-foot French door refrigerator was named “Overall Winner” in a test by The Good Housekeeping Research Institute (GHRI) of comparably classed models.

The counter-depth fridge, model number HB21FC45NS, was the product evaluation lab’s top scorer and “kept temps steadiest to help food last,” it reported in last month’s issue of Good Housekeeping magazine.

GHRI also liked its easy-grasp door handles, clear and userfriendly digital controls, and adjustable shelves.

“Good Housekeeping magazine is such a well-respected publication and their labs are best-in-class,” said Chuck Bryant, Haier’s refrigeration sales and marketing VP. “This is an acknowledgment of our continued effort to provide quality products that offer features and benefits our customers really want and need.”

The Energy Star-qualified fridge features a stainless steel finish and carries a suggested retail of $1,800.
