Geek Squad Outsourcing Services

Minneapolis – Best Buy’s Geek Squad will outsource tech support
services to third-party sellers to extend its reach into the small-business
market.

Geek Squad’s new Partner Program will supplement its own
technicians with IP telephony resellers, master agents for wireless carriers,
wiring and cabling resellers, and other firms that specialize in providing PC,
mobile, networking and infrastructure support services to small businesses, the
retailer said.

Services will be provided under the Geek Squad brand via phone,
web or on site, and include diagnostics and repair, client and server
administration, and network integration, including network, firewall, VPN and
server support, as well as data backup and transfers.

Earlier this year Best Buy expanded its services capabilities for
the estimated $40 billion small- to medium-sized business market by acquiring MindShift
Technologies, which provides managed IT, Cloud, data center and other
professional services across the U.S.

“Geek Squad was founded 17 years ago as a small business
technology service and support task force,” said George Sherman, Best Buy’s
services senior VP. “Today, our strategic priorities to grow our services
business have set the stage to leverage its heritage as a small business
resource.  We believe Geek Squad is
uniquely equipped to partner with the resellers community to meet the needs of
small business customers today.”

Geek Squad offers two Partner Program service plans for small
businesses: standard, which provides unlimited 24/7/365 phone and online chat
and remote support for $25 per month per seat, and an advanced plan that adds on-site
support for $50 per month.
